Psychodynamic Counsellor MBACP
I believe that everyone experiences difficulties and challenges at some point in time. These events and your state of mind can affect the way you enjoy your life, and have a significant impact on you and on the people around you.
It may be that you are finding it difficult to resolve these issues on your own and it is at this point that counselling can help.
People attend counselling for a variety of reasons and each persons story is unique and equally valid.
I often hear people say, “I know there are lots of people with worse problems than me” or “my stuff isn’t as important as other people’s problems etc.” My response is not to judge, but to recognize that if it is causing you prolonged emotional distress then it is meaningful and important and it matters.
YOU MATTER and by acknowledging your emotional needs, you are valuing yourself and treating your mental wellbeing in the same way you would seek medical advice for a physical issue.
It can be a great relief to share your worries and fears in confidence without feeling judged or worried that you are burdening someone with your problems. The new insight which you gain through counselling can help you to let go of patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour that may have sustained you in the past, but now cause you difficulties.
I practice a non –judgemental, respectful and empathetic approach as I believe this creates a safe environment in which we can work together to explore and examine any difficult feelings and problematic issues that may be causing you distress.
