Working with Adults

My primary training is within the Psychodynamic model. This type of counselling focuses on thinking about our internal world - how past and present experiences have influenced us and how patterns emerge in our lives and our relationships with those around us.

Painful feelings, troubled relationships and repeated patterns of behaviour will often have their roots in past experiences.  It can be difficult to see these connections on our own, and to understand how our past experiences are impacting upon our lives today.

It’s not always easy to see how we relate to ourselves and to others. Sometimes this may lead us to unconsciously create situations and engage in relationships that might be detrimental to us as a means of trying to work through issues from previous relationships and/or experiences.

Together, and at a pace that feels comfortable for you, we can explore your underlying anxieties, beliefs and thought processes with the aim of moving towards greater self-awareness, self-acceptance and develop your capacity to take greater ownership over your life.
